If I write poems about rapturous
magnificent glorious moments of
watching a winter sky turn to
shades of reds and golds.
Then go into states of tran fixation
as the turning turns to
indescribable deepening blues,
bringing the day majestically, softly into night.
If I write a poem about love or longing,
about grief or despair -
let my feelings express, remember.
If I write a poem about anything.
If it resonates deeply within,
touches my heart, my soul.
I know it is not my poem. It is ours.
I once thought my poems were about me.
Now I can say those I write
are of our oneness of experiencing,
wonder, love, pain. Sameness.
The allness of being human.
I write poems because I am a poets flute.
Made of the river grass
that grows along the banks of time.
This flute was crafted by the waters flow.
Yours too.
Made by the same hand as mine.
